Children´s human figure drawings have been used widely as both a developmental and a projective assessment tool. Ninety-four human figure drawings by twenty-nine patients with a diagnosis of cerebral palsy were collected from February of 1978 to May of 1985 and examined. The study includes a description of these human figure drawings according to 11 developmental items, 11 emotional indicators, and 9 placement of drawings.
A summary of the results obtained is as follows:
1) The mean age for the drawings of the body was 8 years li months, and those of the arms horizontal and the arms down, 9 years 5 months and 9 years 10 months, respectively.
2) Among the 11 emotional indicators, drawings of hands cut off were most frequently seen (28.7°0) next, poor integration of parts(20. 20) and finally slanting figure( 13.8%) in descending order.
3) As for placement of drawings, center placement was most frequent (40.4°x), followed by left side(29.8,%a) and then, top of the page (23.4%), also in descending order.
